ur mission is to support the work of our local professional dance artists while providing opportunities for them to celebrate the beautiful spaces of Columbus through the lens of dance.

Locality 2012 commissions local, independent professional dance makers to choose their own site (their beautiful space) and engage with neighborhood residents; using the integral input, along with the site’s architecture, landscape, history, and atmosphere to inform the creation of new work.

Locality 2012 is a public performance-art initiative designed to highlight beautiful spaces of Columbus neighborhoods through the lens of dance, in celebration of 200ColumbUS The Bicentennial. Community engagement will happen over the course of 6 months, May – October 2012; and will include opportunities for residents to attend public forums, participate in polls, open rehearsals, video shoots, free previews, dance education experiences, and other celebrations.
